Snippet | Russia's Soyuz Spacecraft | 54 Years
November 28, 2020, marks 54 years, since Russian spacecraft Soyuz first flew in space (low earth orbit). Even though, the very first mission was a partial success, Soyuz has been efficiently transporting crew and cargo of several space agencies to space stations, especially, after discontinuance of NASA's space shuttle (primarily owing to cost constraints), Soyuz, remains as one of the mportant carrier of astronauts and cosmonauts to the International Space Station (ISS).
Earlier in 2020, as a part of NASA's commercial space program, private space agencies were awarded with the contract of carrying humans and cargo to low earth orbit. Elon Musk's SpaceX's Dragon capsule/spacecraft following the successful demonstration carried humans (astronauts and cosmonauts) to the International Space Station. Boeing and Amazon's Jeff Bezos are in the process of testing their carriers or spacecrafts.
