Character Study | John McClane

He is invariably pushed to the verge of defeat, but he doesn't give up without making a collateral damage. The corporation his wife works is taken over control by terrorists. Today, he is exhausted after travelling 3000 miles to meet his wife and family for Christmas. Unknowingly, he visits the 30 storey corporation to meet his wife and incidentally gets separated from the hostages. He is an adamant cop, whose strength is fighting alone against any odds. He is the only one in the building with just a gun, against twelve terrorists with advanced ammunition. He has the capacity to drive people crazy by doing things the old fashioned way, which is he puts on a direct one to one fight, no matter how tough the opponent is. He gets beaten or shot to the point of death, but he makes one right move eventually, taking down his enemies. But, it doesn't happen without him putting a die hard fight.

I've always believed I'm metaphysical.
Yet, I don't believe in anything. Therefore, I appear to be perplexed, which actually I am. I don't reach a conclusion about anything. Ironically, I'm equally prejudiced.
The term purpose means anything to me, because if it has any meaning it only means that one has to keep looking for answers to questions that cannot be really answered.
If there is something that keeps me tethered to reality is fiction. The characters of the fictional world are my real selves.

30 years go today on 20th July 1988, #BruceWillis '#DIEHARD' was released, directed by Director: #JohnMcTiernan, renowned for action films.

The Guardian says 'DIE HARD' (1988) is a quintessential American action film ever made. Indeed, it was. Back in late 80s, when this film was released in my holy place Madurai Mappillai Vinayagar and Manicka Vinayagar theatres (Sri Mappillai Vinayagar), my father took us. Thus, we became die hard followers of not only the 'DIE HARD' franchise but Bruce Willis. Truly, no action films made now barring few (likes of Mad Max, Dark Knight, Lord of Rings) can match the films made in 80s and 90s. Imagine, they only had limited access to computer generated visual effects and largely relied on practical effects and characters. I'm grateful to Madurai Mappillai Vinayagar and Manicka Vinayagar theatres, otherwise I wouldn't have watched them.

I grew up watching John McLane in Die Hard series in our Madurai Mappillai and Manicka Vinayagar theatres, first day night show (except for the 4th & 5th parts as I watched them at Satyam, Madras). Now, watching the Die Hard marathon on Star Movies. Feeling nostalgic!
