How did the #moon come into existence?
The widely believed hypothesis among the scientific communities is that the planet Earth's only natural satellite, 'Moon', was a resultant debris of a Mars planet sized object colliding with Earth about 4.5 billion years ago. It took more than thousands of millions of years for the debris to get settled from a molten state to crystals, eventually the outer crust of the moon was formed. Even though, the moon appears closer to Earth, the impact had placed it 384,000 kilometers away, and it's gradually moving away by an inch.
To put the distance into perspective, 30 Earths sized planets can be placed between the Earth and Moon. It's very far. Isn't? The moon is not suitable for life as it has a weak atmosphere, vulnerable to infiltration of cosmic waves and relatively weak gravity. The temperature ranges from - 243 to 123 degrees Celsius. The human body is not yet biologically capable of adapting to such extreme conditions. Perhaps in the near future, not only will we able to colonize the moon, but make ourselves adaptable to the environmental conditions of our satellite.
Pictured here is a '#SuperMoon' (a full moon, which is at its closest point in its elliptical orbit to Earth) in the formation which I captured using an entry level digital phone camera on 29th January, 2018. I wish I had a telescope or a superior camera. I could have either seen or captured its features.
