Five Came Back: Symbiotic Partnership of World War II & Cinema
A civilization was at stake, not only did the nations come together to safeguard themselves but filmmakers actively contributed. They made people aware of the imminent threats and why people must support their cause through their propaganda films.
Daring filmmakers of 1940s (John Ford, William Wyler, John Huston, Frank Capra, and George Stevens) chose to photograph the events of World War II, and exhibit it to people so as to garner support. 'Five Came Back' is an original documentary series, which compiles their footage, and told through the influential filmmakers of our times (Steven Spielberg, Paul Greengrass, Guillermo del Toro, Lawrence Kasdan and Francis Ford Coppola). Furthermore, narrated by veteran actor, Meryl Streep. #FiveCameBack exclusively released in Netflix, on March 31, 2017.
It is an essential documentary, which states the symbiotic realationship existed between second world war and filmmakers of that period. This soundtrack composed by legendary #ThomasNewman for '#FiveCameBack' (2017) is reminiscent of bravery, sacrifices, hope, fear and war during second world war.

As World War II begins, five of Hollywood's top directors leave success and homes behind to join the armed forces and make films for the war effort.

Now in active service, each director learns his cinematic vision isn't always attainable within government bureaucracy and the variables of war.
3. The Price of Victory:
At the war's end, the five come back to Hollywood to re-establish their careers, but what they've seen will haunt and change them forever.
